Sr. Data Scientist

Duties: The Senior Data Scientist leads the development of advanced machine learning models and analytical frameworks that power insights into the US consumer economy. This role focuses on applying strong analytical thinking to leverage complex large-scale, real-time transaction data to generate actionable intelligence and insights for business decision-making across retail, marketing, and economic use cases. Key responsibilities:

  1.  Consumer Modeling & Data Foundations: Develop scalable methodologies to model consumer behavior using granular transaction data. Build and maintain representative data panels suitable for various use cases including consumer cohort analysis and forecasting sales.
  2.  Machine Learning, NLP & AI Systems: Design, train, and deploy advanced ML models for demographic prediction, forecasting, and behavioral segmentation. Build NLP-driven pipelines for unstructured transaction data and leverage LLMs to enhance evaluation, validation, and automation workflows.
  3.  End-to-End ML Systems & MLOps: Own the full ML lifecycle, including data ingestion, feature engineering, training, deployment, and inference. Implement robust model evaluation, monitoring, and optimization frameworks, while ensuring reproducibility through model and data versioning.
  4.  Scalable & Cost-Efficient Architecture: Design and optimize data and ML systems for scale, leveraging in-database processing (e.g., Snowflake) and efficient workflows to minimize data movement, reduce infrastructure costs, and maintain high performance.
  5.  Business Impact, Communication & Innovation: Translate complex model outputs into actionable business insights that drive strategic decisions. Collaborate cross-functionally, present to stakeholders, and continuously adopt emerging technologies (e.g., LLMs, AI agents) to enhance capabilities and deliver greater value.

Minimum Requirements:  Master’s degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science; and 4 years of experience in data science or machine learning occupations. Experience must include the following experience and skills that may have been gained concurrently:

  • Three (3) years of experience working with large-scale / big data systems; and demonstrated experience with the following:
  • Working with transaction data and modeling consumer behavior;
  • Advanced machine learning (e.g., Tree-based models, ensemble methods, deep learning);
  • NLP, unstructured data processing, and AI system;
  • Programming in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, PyTorch) and SQL (Snowflake, Postgres);
  • Cloud platforms and data infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks); and
  • MLOps practices, including model monitoring, versioning, and reproducibility.
